Write for Colrs
Articles by people
who actually grade.
Colrs publishes articles about technique. Not product news, not launch announcements. If you have worked out something useful at the workstation, we want to publish it under your name.
Anyone in the industry can pitch. You do not have to be a Colrs creator.
What we publish
Good fit
Workflow and technique. How you solve a specific problem: matching mixed sources, keeping skin tones stable across a wide gamut timeline, building a node tree that survives client notes, prepping a grade for delivery. Colour science explained for people who use it, not people who publish about it. Honest post-mortems of jobs that went sideways.
Not a fit
Press releases and launch announcements. Thin listicles. Generic AI filler. Anything written to place a link. Anything that reads as a pitch with a paragraph of theory in front of it. We will not publish a review of your own product.
Rule of thumb: a reader must have grown in their knowledge or skills after reading your article, even if they never buy anything. That is the whole test.
Original work
You must be the original author and hold full rights to share the article. We welcome both new content and previously published pieces from your own blog. For cross-posts, a canonical tag will point to the original version to safeguard search rankings for both of us.
We edit
House style, structure, headings, spelling. We do not change your argument or your conclusions without asking you first. You see the final version before it goes live.
Links
Internal links only point to product categories (e.g., /tools/?s=2383), search result pages, or creator profiles on Colrs (direct links to individual products are not allowed). No external commercial links, no third-party affiliate links, and no links you were paid to place.
Tools in context
You can name a tool, including your own, when the workflow calls for it. One or two mentions, stated plainly, with the relationship disclosed. The moment the article exists to sell the tool, it is an ad and we will say no.
Show your work
Stills, node trees, scopes, before and after. Use your own footage or footage you have permission to publish. Client work needs clearance, and that is on you.
Credit and rights
You keep the copyright. Colrs gets a non-exclusive licence to publish and promote the article. For new articles written for Colrs, you can republish them elsewhere after 30 days with a canonical link back to Colrs.
Pitch or Share
Have a new idea, or an existing article you'd love to re-publish on Colrs? Just send us a quick note with a link to your work. No formal proposal needed.
Write
Once we're aligned, you write (or simply send over) your existing draft. We're here to brainstorm or help out whenever you need us.
Publish
We edit and send it back for your approval. Then it goes live under your name, with a byline linking to your creator profile.
The practical bit
Terms can change for future submissions. Anything already published stays under the terms it was accepted on.
Got something worth sharing?
Send your idea or a link to an existing article to editorial@colrs.io. A few lines or a quick link is all we need.
